Sora 2
Discontinued. OpenAI removes Sora 2, Sora 2 Pro, and the Videos API on September 24, 2026, and lists no replacement model. The Sora web and mobile apps already shut down on April 26, 2026. After the cutoff, API calls return 410 and OpenAI permanently deletes associated data, so export anything you still need before then.
Sora 2 was OpenAI's video generation model, producing 1080p clips from text prompts or a single image. The specifications below are kept for reference; jump to alternatives for models that are still running.

What To Use Instead
Sora 2 was a generalist, so there is no single one-for-one swap. Match the job to the model:

- Animating a still photo — Hailuo 2.3, the cheapest image-to-video option
